Triumph Foundation: realizes that injuries have lifelong consequences, so, it is aimed at assisting kids, youngsters, adults and veterans with any kind of disorders to triumph over their disability and inspire them to strive to get better and better every day. Home Aid is a non-profit organization in the construction industry that provides huge discounts on the construction or repair of shelters and build safe and dignified housing. Gary Sinise Foundation: provides a variety of programs, services and activities for wounded veterans of the armed forces. Valley Children Hospital: provides comprehensive pediatric services and specialized assistance to infants, children, adolescents and people under the age of 21 in general. Bridge to Home: helps people who are going through the most difficult time in their lives and provides them with case management; helps them find a new place to live in, medical assistance and even emergency winter shelter. National Core National Community Renaissance - a US non-profit public organization that specializes in supporting families by offering high-quality services at affordable prices to multi-family, mixed-income, elderly people, the workforce and people with special needs. There’s been a lot of discussions over California’s new electric gardening equipment law, Assembly Bill 1346, also known as the SORE Act (Small off-road engines).
Starting Jan. 1, 2024 the law, signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom in 2021, restricts the sale of most gas-powered gardening equipment, and by Jan. 1, 2028 – restrictions fall on gas generators. At Landscape Development, Inc. we are ready to embrace the age of efficient battery-powered gardening and construction tools! As long as the battery revolution has moved outdoors, along with the push of the SORE law, the switch to battery-powered gardening tools is not just technical progress, it’s supplying what the customer wants.
Our company already has set up routes fully equipped with electric gear for servicing banks and senior centers – areas where loud gas engine noise is primarily unwanted. When we are maintaining these properties, customers hear only a quiet “whoosh” of silent motors spinning blades. Who said that winter is a dull and monotonous time of the year? Fortunately, there are enough plants in the California climate that delight with bright, cheerful shades all year round.
Add red!
In the restrained color scheme of winter, red looks especially impressive. Therefore, plants with red bark, red flowers and red fruits serve as indispensable decorations of winter gardens.
In this case, the optimal choice for winter landscape maintenance will be Swida sericea, or red willow dogwood. The perennial stems of this species have a captivating shade of red.
The absolute star of the winter garden: Beautyberry
Callicarpa americana, or beautyberry, is beautiful in any season: in spring it shines with light green foliage, in summer its branches are covered with numerous flowers, in autumn the leaves change color to bright red or gold. However, the finest hour of beautyberry comes in winter, when its bright purple berries ripen. The California climate is ideal for the plant: it is not afraid of drought, does not require maintenance and grows rapidly.
Beautyberry's closest competitor is Ilex verticillata, or winterberry. Thanks to its piercing red berries, this species is one of the most popular landscape plants. Ilex verticillata shrubs grow well in moist soils and are resistant to diseases and insects.
Pay attention to coniferous trees
In California, thuja and cypress trees grow beautifully, but Cedrus deodara – Deodar Cedar looks especially impressive in winter. Another strong candidate is Gold Coast Juniper. Old Fashioned Winter Comes to California Fifteen feet of snow in the Sierras! Six inches of rain in a week in Southern California. Inland temperatures freezing and below at night and cold and windy during the day. Californians haven’t seen real Winter weather like this in years. With so much rain and cold, now’s the time to pay attention to landscape, drainage, and irrigation! Foremost, all irrigation should be turned off. Just shut the irrigation timer off and keep it off for what looks like an easy month! (Think of the water and money you’ll save.) And your plants will thank you for it because they’re already swimming in deep water as it is! Check yard drains and rain gutters for proper flow. Clogged rain gutters can lead to water intrusion into homes and can spill over, damaging plants below. And yard drains are what keep planters from overflowing into homes and buildings. Check to clear leaves, mud, and debris. Finally, with this much rain, check planters and turf areas for ponding or drainage blocking. You may need to adjust surface drainage to keep water moving and to keep your home, structures, and landscape safe. This Winter is wonderful. California has needed all this moisture so badly for so long!
