In the wake of the Eaton Fire, the Altadena and Pasadena communities are facing the difficult and deeply personal process of rebuilding. These areas—long defined by their unique connection to the surrounding natural landscape—have been significantly impacted, leaving many families navigating an uncertain path forward.
At Design Studios Landscape Development, this work is more than a project—it’s personal.
“Our team was born out of the Thomas Fire, so we understand firsthand how complex and overwhelming the rebuilding process can be,” shared Roberto Leo, Principal Landscape Architect.
Drawing on that experience, Design Studios has partnered with Williams Rebuild to provide a more streamlined and supportive path forward for homeowners. By integrating design, permitting, and construction services, the team is helping simplify what is often a complicated and emotional process—bringing clarity, efficiency, and peace of mind to families as they rebuild.
A key focus of these efforts is the implementation of fire-wise landscape design. While fuel modification requirements can sometimes feel limiting, the Design Studios team approaches them as an opportunity—using thoughtful, creative solutions to design landscapes that are not only compliant, but also beautiful, functional, and resilient.
Through strategic planning, plant selection, and layout design, these landscapes are being reimagined to help protect homes, support safer communities, and enhance long-term sustainability.
“We see these challenges as opportunities to create environments that are stronger and more resilient than before,” Roberto added.
As progress continues, Design Studios remains committed to supporting Altadena and Pasadena with the expertise, care, and collaboration that define Landscape Development, Inc.
Together, we are helping these communities rebuild—stronger, safer, and with renewed confidence.
