Landscape Development, Inc. (LDI) has generously donated in kind to the new Bridge To Home homeless shelter in Santa Clarita. LDI is well-known for its expertise in landscape architecture and construction and has pledged its Landscape Architecture studio to design the landscape of the shelter. Additionally, LDI’s landscape construction arm will contribute labor and materials to bring the landscape design to life. This collaborative effort amounts to a true design-build donation for the community, with an estimated total value of $125,000.
The Bridge To Home Full-Service Interim Housing Center is a significant project initiated through collaboration between the City of Santa Clarita, LA County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, and Los Angeles County. The facility, slated for completion in the second quarter of 2024, aims to address homelessness in the region. The project is guided by Board of Director’s President Elect Dr. Cherise Moore, who recently provided a preview of the facility during an inside tour.
The 18,680 square-foot site is designed to accommodate 60 individuals, with separate dormitory-style wings for 40 men and 20 women. Additionally, the facility will feature eight apartment-style units to house up to 32 people, specifically aimed at families. Dr. Moore emphasized the significant impact on families and students, stating, “It’s not going to meet the demand, but it is definitely a game-changer.”
Expected services within the facility include rooms for physical exams and behavioral health services, facilitated by medical staff from Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital. The shelter will also provide a large functional kitchen, spacious dining room, technology center, offices for case managers, and meeting spaces for job training, support groups, and community gatherings.
Dr. Moore expressed gratitude to the community and government agencies involved in the project, stating, “I can’t thank the community and all of the government agencies that have helped us to get here enough and looking forward to the difference that we make in the lives of so many.”
Landscape Development, Inc.’s contribution adds a crucial element to the success of this vital community project. By offering their landscape architecture expertise and construction resources, LDI not only enhances the aesthetics of the shelter but also contributes to creating a more conducive and comforting environment for those in need.
The project aligns with LDI’s commitment to social responsibility and community engagement. This donation reinforces the company’s dedication to making a positive impact on the communities it serves. As the Bridge To Home Full-Service Interim Housing Center nears completion, it stands as a testament to the power of collaboration between businesses and the community to address and alleviate pressing social issues.
