Design Studios Landscape Development proudly announces the successful completion of the Montalvo ‘Safe Routes to School’ project. This groundbreaking collaboration, funded by a substantial $1 million in Measure O funding along with a significant $1.38 million CalTrans grant, marks a transformative milestone for the Montalvo neighborhood in Ventura.
The comprehensive project features a range of enhancements aimed at improving safety, accessibility, and the overall identity of the Montalvo area. The key highlights of this project include the installation of over 2 miles of continuous sidewalks, creating a safe pathway for pedestrians. Additionally, a mile of new bike lanes has been added, providing a dedicated space for cyclists, contributing to a more bike-friendly environment.
Moreover, the project boasts the integration of 12 new curb ramps, alongside the reconstruction of 26 existing curb ramps, greatly increasing accessibility for individuals with disabilities. With the introduction of 27 new pedestrian and bike crossings, the area has been further fortified to ensure safer passage for all residents.
Design Studios Landscape Development also took a distinctive approach by incorporating Montalvo landmark signage, fostering a sense of identity and community pride within the neighborhood. Adding to the aesthetics and environmental quality, a significant 12,000 square feet of new landscape area was created, contributing to the area’s overall greenery and appeal.
